New Day! New Week! We're at Savona's on Wednesday!

Due to this crazy thing called Thanksgiving, Nancy Tierney & The Boys will be performing at Savona’s on WEDNESDAY, Nov. 17… instead of their normal “last Thursday of the month” time. I hope you can come and take part in some pre-Thanksgiving cheer! . . .

What's New at Savona's

My friend Paul Rakov would argue with me (but then, he’s always arguing with me or someone else), but I do believe that one of the best things about Kingston, New York, is Savona’s Trattoria. And no, I’m not just saying that because I have a gig there every last Thursday of the month. Long before Stephen Savona ever asked me to perform there, Savona’s became my second home here in Kingston. Every time I walk in there, it’s like a scene from Cheers… where everybody knows your name. . . .

31 Days of Experiencing New Things: Day 26, 27 & 28

Yesterday was Day 28 of this crazy 31 Day project of Experiencing New Things. And it was also gig day

31 Days of Experiencing New Things: Day 22 & 23

Yesterday, I decided to go to the 9:30 am yoga class at Mudita Yoga in Kingston. THIS would be my new experience for the day. I pulled my purple yoga mat out from the piles of stuff in the downstairs hallway, and sprinted off into the rainy, humid morning towards my new experience.

As I . . .

31 Days of Experiencing New Things: Day 15, 16 & 17

There are new expiences you look forward to. They feel fun and adventurous. Others grab you by surprise. You couldn’t have planned them if you tried. And if you’re really lucky, you get a little of both in the same experience! That was Day 16, but I’m getting ahead of myself.

Rockin’ the 31 Days of Experiencing New Things: Day 12, 13, & 14

What I’m loving about this 31 Days of Experiencing New Things project is realizing just how often I DO experience new things… without even trying. Every day IS a new experience, right? In breaking out of the same old routine, I’ve noticed, gratefully, that I rarely live one day like another. There is always something . . .

A Comedy of Errors – Day 7 & 8

When you’re in a foul mood, the idea of experiencing something new becomes more of a burden than a delight. And on Thursday, July 8, I was struggling to write dazzling copy for a client of mine. It wasn’t happening. And that made me grumpy.

As a writer, sometimes things just flow easily and vibrantly . . .

31 Days of Experiencing New Things – Day 3 & 4

Yesterday, I cheated.

I was so worn out from experiencing new things on Saturday, that yesterday, Sunday, I rested. A lot. I figured that since I experienced more than two new things on Saturday, I could claim one of them as my Sunday new experience.

Saturday night, I went to the Bearsville Theater (I . . .

31 Days of Experiencing New Things – Day 1 & 2

Yesterday, I was on Facebook, scanning my stream, noticing that Sandi Krakowski was unplugging from all things Internet for the long 4th of July weekend, and Paul Rakov was still listening to the Grateful Dead (when will he ever learn?), when I saw this link under the Events column on the right “31 Days of . . .

Gig Day

Gig days are strange. The energy is rushy and wavy. There is a lot to do, most of which is either paper work or hauling equipment. Often, the biggest challenge is deciding what to wear.

Here’s a snippet of video from gig day on June 24, plus a sneak into the dressing room of the . . .
